Wheeling Park Patriots (2-6) at Fairmont Senior Polar Bears (5-2)
Wheeling Park closed out its home schedule with its second victory of the season by defeating Lincoln County 56-20. The Patriots spotted Lincoln County a 14-0 lead, but rattled off the next 49 points. Zach Morris ran for 115 yards and three touchdowns, while FB Alex Schramm added 75 stripes and a pair of scores. Both teams were anemic in the passing game as Lincoln completed 3 passes, while Park was 0 for 5. Meanwhile, the Polar Bears are ranked eleventh this week and are in position to host a first round playoff game with three wins.

Weir Red Riders (1-6) at Brooke Bruins (5-2)
Brooke fell victim to the strong rushing attack of the Morgantown Mohigans and were overrun to the tune of 44-20. The Mohigans rushed for 470 yards and six touchdowns, including five from 40 yards or more. Joey Musick racked up 240 yards and 4 scores, while Chris Glover picked up 165 stripes and a 41 yard scoring run. Brooke sophomore quarterback Alec Buchmelter was 21 of 28 for a career high 240 yards and a touchdown. The Bruin ground attack had some rare problems as Ryan Lazear was held to just 50 yards and Ian Morris managed 40 stripes and a score. Lazear has 655 yards and 10 scores while Morris has collected 610 yards and 8 trips to the end zone. Buchmelter has completed 60 of 116 passes for 760, 8 touchdowns, 5 interceptions and has rushed for 280 stripes. Weir notched its first win of the year by edging Steubenville Catholic, Ohio, 14-12. Hunter McLaughlin paced the Riders with 130 yards rushing and a touchdown.
Morgantown Mohigans (7-1) at John Marshall Monarchs (1-6)
John Marshall got a 48-14 face lift at the hands of University. The Hawks ground game rushed for 335 yards and five touchdowns. Junior QB Aaron Fonner was 11 of 22 for 195 yards and a touchdown pass. He also rushed for 50 stripes and a score. For the year, Fonner is 85 of 1466 for 1200 yards with 8 touchdowns and 10 interceptions. He has rushed for 362 yards and five scores.
Barnesville Shamrocks (5-3) at Magnolia Blue Eagles (7-0)
The Magnolia Blue Eagles held Robert Byrd to negative rushing yards and just 75 yards total as the Big Blue dominated the green-clad Eagles 35-7. The Byrd offense managed only one first down on the relentless Magnolia defense. QB Justin Fox was a brilliant 15 of 18 for 138 yards. He was intercepted once, but scored a pair of rushing touchdowns. The Kennedy Award candidate is 85 of 131 for 1378 yards with 17 touchdown passes and just four interceptions. Fox is the all-time passing leader at Magnolia with over 5200 yards. RB Jayson Keller rushed for 100 yards and 3 scores. Magnolia has routed its foes by a combined score of 297-42. Barnesville lost to Monroe Central 21-6, a team that Magnolia defeated 42-14 three weeks ago. The Shamrocks three losses have been at the hands of teams that are 20 and 4. Barnesville is paced by talented QB Tyler Kurtz and RB Preston Dornan. The top receivers are all named Tyler… Fitzpatrick, Moore, and Burkhart. Barnesville has traditionally been difficult for Magnolia. Last year the Blue Eagles scored late to pull a 14-7 victory.
Steubenville Catholic, Ohio, Crusaders (1-7) at Oak Glen Golden Bears (5-3)
Oak Glen saw its playoff chances take a hit by losing to once-beaten East Liverpool 32- 12. The Potter defense held Bear RB Chance Rowland to just 30 yards, with most of those coming on a run late in the game. Shane Koper ran for 80 yards and score on both a run and a reception. Rowland now has 1045 yards and 20 touchdowns while Koper chips in with 790 yards and 10 scores. The Golden Bears must win this game and their finale against undefeated Magnolia to make the playoffs.
Martins Ferry, Ohio, Purple Riders (7-1) at Wheeling Central Maroon Knights (4-3)
The Maroon Knights saw a 28-19 second half lead evaporate as Pittsburgh Perry rallied for three touchdowns to defeat Central 39-28. All-everything QB Greg McGhee was 9 of 13 for 180 yards and three touchdowns. Knight RB Marcus Clifford rushed for 133 yards and two scores but left the game with an undisclosed injury early in the fourth quarter. Clifford has 920 yards and 15 touchdowns for the year. The Knight passing game never got untracked as Central completed only six passes for 80 yards. Martins Ferry defeated St Clairsville, Ohio, 13-7 in overtime. Workhorse RB Casey Bain carried the leather 43 times for 227 yards and a touchdown. Bain has 1050 yards and 14 scores. QB Dorsey Moore is 63 of 109 for 1100 yards with 9 touchdowns and four interceptions. Last year, the Knights edged the Purple Riders 14-13, just one of two defeats for Martins Ferry.
Bishop Donahue Bishops (7-0) at Valley Lumbjacks (3-4)
Bishop Donahue won its seventh straight by defeating Notre Dame 46-13. RB Bobby Richmond pounded out 150 yards on the ground and scored four times. The Bishops have outscored six opponents by a combined score of 384-40. Bishop WR Ryan Jones has caught 14 touchdowns passes on just 35 receptions. RB Bobby Richmond has tallied 18 scores while rushing for 650 yards. For the season, Angalich is 62 of 89 for 1350 yards with 20 touchdown passes and just two interceptions. The Bishops clinch a playoff spot with a win this week, and have only Madonna and Paden City blocking their path to a perfect regular season. Valley was routed by Frontier, Ohio, 49-20.
Toronto, Ohio, Red Knights (3-5) at Madonna Blue Dons (6-1)
Madonna defeated winless Purchase Line, Pa 51-6 Saturday night. Connor Arlia ran for only 60 yards but the 5-10, 210 pound senior caught two touchdown passes from QB Chris Perna and returned a fumble for another score. Running mate Chris Eloi ran for 95 stripes and two scores Madonna intercepted three passes and recovered two fumbles. Arlia leads the ground attack with 900 yards and 19 touchdowns while QB Chris Perna is 21 of 41 for 360 yards and four scoring tosses.
Saturday, October 23
Linsly Cadets (6-1) at Pittsburgh Allderdice (4-3)
Linsly pounded Buckeye Trail, Ohio, 64-28. RB Phil Acrie rushed for 150 yards and scored three long touchdowns consisting of a 62 yard run, an 80 yard punt return, and a 95 yard kickoff return. For the year RB Phil Acrie has rushed for 830 yards and13 scores, while QB Kyle Pytlak is 72 of 102 for 1200 yards and 14 touchdowns. Allderdice was defeated last week by Pittsburgh Perry 40-0.
