Former Georgia RB joins Herd staff

Marshall coach Doc Holliday reportedly has hired former Georgia Bulldogs running back Thomas Brown to coach the Thundering Herd’s running backs. Brown would replace JaJuan Seider, who left to join West Virginia’s staff last week.

Herald-Dispatch columnist Chuck Landon first reported the hiring via Twitter Tuesday night.

Brown comes to Marshall after spending last season coaching the running backs at the University of Tennessee-Chattanooga. UTC rushed for 1,845 yards in 2012 averaging 4 yards per rush. Brown had joined the Georgia State football program in January before getting the offer from Holliday to come to Marshall. Brown also served as a graduate assistant at the University of Georgia in the strength and conditioning program.

Brown was a four-year letterman at the University of Georgia where he rushed for 2,646 yards and 23 touchdowns. In 2008, he was selected by the Atlanta Falcons in the sixth round of the NFL draft and played with the Cleveland Browns in 2009.
