Shooting death in Hardy County, arrest made

RIO, W.Va. –A man was killed Monday morning in a shooting in Hardy County, police said.

Officers were dispatched to the Liberty Gas Station near Rio on a shots fired call at about 7 a.m.

A man identified as Dustin Hinkle was found dead of a gunshot wound. Robert Greenfield, of Rig,  was arrested at the scene and charged with murder, police said.

Christopher Mason of Petersburg was also at the scene and charged with wanton endangerment with a firearm.

Hinkle’s body has been sent to the West Virginia State Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy.

Deputies from Hardy and Hampshire counties were on the scene along with state police troopers.
