Robbery suspect wanted in Mineral County

MINERAL COUNTY, W.Va. — State Police are investigating an armed robbery in Mineral County.

Around 7 p.m. Thursday, troopers said a man entered the Mountaineer Mart on Frankfort Highway.

The suspect approached the counter with a handgun and demanded that the cashier give him money from the register.

State Police provided this surveillance photo of the suspect in the Dec. 28 Frankfort Mountaineer Mart robbery.

The cashier called 911 after the suspect left the store with the money, State Police said.

No one else was in the business at the time of the robbery.

West Virginia State Police and the Mineral County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene and a search of the area was conducted with the help of Maryland State Police Helicopter Trooper 5.

The suspect was described as a white male, about 5’8 to 5’9, heavy set build, wearing gray sweat pants, a black hooded sweatshirt, dark tennis shoes and a pair of black sunglasses.

Anyone with any information was asked to call the West Virginia State Police Keyser Detachment at 304-788-1101 or Crime Solvers at 301-722-4300.

A reward of up to $1,500 may be offered for information leading to an arrest in the investigation.
