Hampshire County 911 center getting deep clean after positive COVID-19 cases

ROMNEY, W.Va. — A crew from the West Virginia National Guard is scheduled to do a deep clean of the Hampshire County 911 Center in Romney Thursday after four workers there recently tested positive for COVID-19.

According to a news release, the workers tested positive between May 22-31.

All other workers at the center were required to be tested in a drive-thru testing event that happened on Tuesday. Results are expected in a few days. There are 10 emergency dispatchers in Hampshire County.

“Very stringent mandates were put on the 911 Communications Center early on, in an attempt to keep the dispatchers healthy,” the news release said. “At this time, it seems the virus has only effected 911 dispatchers, due to all other persons being prohibited from entering the Communications portion of the building.”

Hampshire County Sheriff’s Department Chief Deputy/911 Director Nathan Sions said he wants to thank the Hampshire County Health Department, Valley Health and Trinity Family Health Care for their assistance.
