CLARKSBURG, W.Va. — A Harrison County production company plans on producing a film about the September shooting of Clarksburg City Councilmember Jim Malfregeot.
Malfregeot was having dinner with his wife and mother-in-law at their East Main Street home when they heard a disturbance at a nearby fast food location.
Antonio Dejesus, 33, of Wilmington, Delaware, allegedly shot Malfregeot in the torso and carjacked a car containing the councilmember’s wife and mother-in-law. Dejesus told the women to drive toward Shinnston before allowing them to leave the car. Authorities later arrested Dejesus at a convenience store near Interstate 79.
The women suffered minor injuries, but Malfregeot’s recovery included 38 days in the hospital and five weeks of eating through a tube.
Dejesus remains at North Central Regional Jail and is also being held by the U.S. Marshals Service for a probation violation related to a heroin dealing charge.
