Monongalia educators start receiving vaccine Friday

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — Monongalia County educators 50 years old and older will begin receiving their first doses of the Moderna coronavirus vaccine on Friday.

The clinic at Morgantown High School will be the first of multiple weekly events. Monongalia County Schools Superintendent Eddie Campbell said the school system has around 400 doses.

“We’re expecting another round of doses to be delivered to us next week, and we will be addressing any of the over 50 that did not get this one,” he said. ” Then, creating a list of all of the other folks. The under-50s.”

Gov. Jim Justice last month ordered all elementary and middle schools to have five days of in-person instruction starting Jan. 19.

The Monongalia Board of Education will meet Tuesday to discuss the spring semester.
