Martinsburg first-come, first-served vaccination clinic runs out of doses quickly

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. — Half an hour after the official start of a community vaccination event for those 70 and older in Martinsburg Thursday, the slots had been assigned.

Berkeley and Morgan County Health Department’s Dr. Kevin McLaughlin told the Panhandle News Network 650 folks that were in line were allocated the slots for those doses. Vehicles started lining up at 5 a.m. at the Berkeley 2000 Rec Center.

There was tremendous interest in the event, and Martinsburg-based Patient Care Transportation Care had made an offer to transport folks to the event for free earlier in the day.

No word yet on when another vaccination event will be held.
