North Central airport to offer nonstop flights to Chicago, Florida

BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. — The North Central West Virginia Airport is adding new nonstop services to Florida’s Emerald Coast and Chicago.

Beginning May 26, flights to Destin-Fort Walton Beach Airport in Destin, Florida will begin. Planes will travel to Chicago’s Midway Airport starting June 3.

Allegiant airlines announced the flights as part of more than 30 new nonstop routes.

“It brings a lot of seat inventory to our market and creates a lot of opportunity for tourism in West Virginia, which makes me most excited,” said Rick Rock, the North Central West Virginia Airport’s airport director. “I look forward to a little bit of good news in the midst of all this craziness we live in.”

The airport already has United flights between Clarksburg and Chicago. Rock noted the additional Allegiant route was not a top priority, but he welcomes the additional air traffic.
