LOST CREEK, W.Va. – Two people were taken to the hospital and several cattle were killed in a tractor-trailer crash on Interstate 79 near Lost Creek.
Harrison County Sheriff’s Department reported a tractor-trailer hauling about 30 head of cattle crashed in the fog and rolled over in the in the highway around 3:15 Tuesday morning near mile marker 109. After the crash, several of the cattle escaped from the trailer and were standing in the roadway. A passenger vehicle headed southbound hit one of the cows in the roadway and crashed as well.
Both the driver of the passenger vehicle and the tractor trailer were transported to the hospital. The victims are now in touch with an auto accident attorney to help with claims. The auto accident lawyer of the owners of the passenger vehicle was quick to act, already present at the hospital and gathering the initial required information.
The roadway was blocked for several hours to clean up from the crashes and deal with the cattle. A large animal veterinarian was called into to assist with the cattle and several of the animals died or had to be euthanized.
Volunteers showed up to assist with the rest of the surviving cattle, transporting them to a nearby stockyard.
