Man arrested in Tucker County for triple murders in Maryland

TUCKER COUNTY, W.Va. — A Maryland man wanted for the murder of three people in two separate incidents is arrested in Tucker County.

Jeffrey Burnham

Jeffrey Allen Burnham, 46, the suspect wanted for murder in Cumberland, Md., as well as the murder of two people in Howard County, Md. was arrested Friday by West Virginia State Police.

Police in Cumberland said Burnham was located after troopers checked on a suspicious vehicle in that area. He was taken into custody without incident.

Burnham was spotted around 9 a.m. on the side of a road in Davis, W.V., with the 2007 red Corvette he stole from his brother’s home after the murder, according to Howard County Police.

A gun was located inside the vehicle. It is unclear why Burnham had pulled off the roadway.

On Wednesday, police responded to a home in the 500 block of Fourth Street in Cumberland for a death investigation. At the scene, officers discovered the body of Rebecca Reynolds, 83.

Reynold’s body was examined by the medical examiner who ruled her death a homicide.

During the investigation, officers determined Reynold’s vehicle had also been stolen and was recovered near Kerger Road in Howard County, Md. Burham was charged with vehicle theft.

Burham is also charged with the murder of his brother, Brian Robinette, 58, and sister-in-law Kelly Sue Robinette, 57, in Ellicott City the next day, Sept. 30.

Burham drove to the home of his brother and sister-in-law and shot them, according to authorities.

Police believe that all three victims were targeted and known to the suspect.

Burnham is being held in West Virginia pending an extradition hearing.
