IRELAND, W.Va. — The Lewis County Sheriff’s Department and West Virginia state police are investigating a shooting death that happened Monday night in the Ireland-Wildcat area.
Deputies responded to the residence on Shoemaker Road at 10:14 p.m. to a report of shots fired into a residence. When police and EMS arrived they discovered a deceased 36-year-old woman in the home.
Police said an unknown suspect fired the shots into the residence and fled the scene.
The investigation is ongoing. No names have been released.
