CHARLESTON, W.Va. — The West Virginia Senate’s minority leader has requested more monoclonal antibodies from the Biden administration to treat people with the coronavirus.
Senate Minority Leader Stephen Baldwin, D-Greenbrier, noted in a letter dated Friday the rise in positive coronavirus cases, including Gov. Jim Justice. Justice is vaccinated and boostered, and he received monoclonal antibodies following his diagnosis.
“Due to a shortage in-state on monoclonal antibodies, not all West Virginians have the same opportunity,” Baldwin said. “People are lying in our hospitals, waiting in our emergency rooms, and suffering at home with no relief in sight because we are experiencing a critical shortage of these antibodies.”
Baldwin additionally urged Biden to provide the state with more access to antibody treatments as well as resources for producing related supplies.
