Father-son argument in Lincoln County turns into fire

SPURLOCKVILLE, W.Va. — A father and son in Lincoln County are hospitalized with severe burns after an argument got out of control.

State Police say they are still trying to sort out what happened at the home on Upper Mud River Road Thursday night near the community of Spurlockville.

There Kenneth Miller, 59, and his son Phillip Miller, 34, were both severely burned. One suffered burns to 70 percent of his body, the other 40 percent of this body.

Preliminary indications from investigators are the two were engaged in an argument and one doused the other in gasoline, then set him on fire. However, the blaze jumped back and got both men. Troopers did not indicate who was the instigator with the fire, but both are now severely injured.
