Voter registration deadline Tuesday

CHARLESTON W.Va. — Tuesday is the deadline to register to vote or make any changes to your voter registration.

Carye Blaney

“This is an important deadline for citizens wanting to vote in our General Election,” Secretary of State Mac Warner Warner said. “It is also a good opportunity for those who are currently registered to vote to update their voter registration if they need to.”

Monongalia County Clerk Carye Blaney is reminding all voters to check their voter registration status to make certain all of their information is correct.

“It is always prudent for someone to take a look and make certain all their information is correct,” Blaney said Monday on WAJR’s Talk of the Town.

Blaney said transient voters, someone who has moved recently, may have differing addresses on the record for their residency, postal service and drivers license, which could cause an issue. Those voters have been notified.

The most convenient way to check your voter registration is through the West Virginia Secretary of State’s website, govotewv.com. Monongalia County residents may also consult the county clerk’s website, which also includes information about specific precincts.

Warner said early voting for the Nov. 8 vote begins Oct. 26.

Absentee Voting has been taking place since Sept. 23.

A total of 5,326 West Virginia citizens registered to vote in September, Warner said.
