Powerball jackpot at record level for Saturday’s drawing

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — The jackpot for Saturday’s Powerball drawing is at $800 million and state lottery officials expect it to rise before the drawing takes place.

Danielle Snidow, the Deputy Director of Marketing for the West Virginia Lottery told MetroNews she expects the jackpot to rise based on the number of ticket sales nationwide and in West Virginia.

“Once it gets up to this level, $800 million, we have a lot more players which is great because it helps us provide so much to West Virginia with seniors, education and tourism,” she said.

She added that this is the second-largest jackpot in the Powerball’s 30-year history and the fifth-largest jackpot in US Lottery history.

The drawing will be the 37th in the current jackpot run.

Tickets for Saturday’s Powerball drawing can be purchased at any West Virginia Lottery retailer for $2 apiece, or $3 with the Power Play option, which increases your non-jackpot prizes.

All tickets must be purchased by 9:59 p.m. ET Wednesday.

To play, choose five numbers ranging from 1 to 69 and one Power Ball number from 1 to 26.
