CHARLESTON, W.Va. — West Virginia lottery players will have a chance to win big Monday night as the Powerball jackpot continues to grow to record levels.
The Powerball jackbot rose to an estimated $1 billion after no one hit the winning numbers in Saturday night’s drawing.
The prize for Monday night’s drawing marks only the second time in Powerball’s 30-year history that the jackpot has risen to $1 billion. The cash value is estimated at $497.3 million.
Six tickets won $1 million prizes in Saturday’s drawing. California and Michigan both had two winning tickets, while Maryland and Texas had one each.
The largest Powerball jackpot ever recorded was $1.586 billion in Jan. 2016 and shared by three winners in California, Florida and Tennessee.
