WVU picks up commitment from 4-star receiver Traylon Ray

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — WVU has secured a verbal commitment from Traylon Ray, a 4-star recruit from North Florida Christian High School in Tallahassee, Fla.

Ray selected West Virginia over finalists Mississippi State and Tennessee. The 6-foot-3 receiver also plays basketball and baseball at North Florida Christian. Ray visited Morgantown on September 19 and received a scholarship offer on February 28.

Ray has caught 51 passes for 1,025 yards and 10 touchdowns in his senior season. He has also rushed for a pair of touchdowns. On defense, Ray has ranked up 30 tackles [4 for loss] and 4 interceptions. North Florida Christian is currently 10-0.

In his junior season, Ray reeled in 87 passes for 1,366 yards and 17 touchdowns.

The Mountaineers have 19 players committed to their Class of 2023 and four receivers are in that group. Ray also holds scholarship offers from Boston College, Cincinnati, Coastal Carolina, Florida, Florida Atlantic, Florida International, Florida State, Georgia Tech, Massachusetts, Miami, UCF, USF, Tulane, Virginia Tech and Western Kentucky.
