UNC QB Drake Maye opts out of Duke’s Mayo Bowl

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — Projected as one of the top quarterbacks on the board for the 2024 NFL Draft, North Carolina’s Drake Maye has decided not to play in the Duke’s Mayo Bowl on December 27 against West Virginia. Maye made the announcement on social media Monday evening.

Maye has passed for 3,609 yards with 24 touchdown passes against nine interceptions. He has also rushed for 449 yards and nine more scores.

Redshirt freshman signal caller Conner Harrell has been Maye’s backup this season. He has played in four games, completing 4-of-6 passes for 71 yards and a touchdown. Harrell has also rushed 5 times for 50 yards and a score.
